Background:
Chiyo Mihama was born into an extremely wealthy family, and is an only child. At the age of five, she got her dog, Mr. Tadakichi, as a puppy, and has been his close companion ever since. She attended school at around the same level as other children her age until she became ten years old. However, because of her genius intelligence, she skipped five grades into the tenth grade, the first grade of high school in Japan.

On her first day of high school, Chiyo-chan was introducted to the class by her teacher, Yukari-sensei. Over the course of an undisclosed space of time, she got acquainted with Sakaki, Tomo, Yomi. Then, Ayumi, a new student from Osaka (and nicknamed as such by Tomo shortly thereafter) was also introduced to the class.

While little is known about the more serious and dramatic side of her high school life, she had some rather amusing misadventures with her friends. At lunch one day, Osaka got the hiccups for a good few hours, and Chiyo-chan, along with her other friends, tried to relieve her of them. (Unfortunately, as Osaka stopped hiccuping, Chiyo-chan began to.)

Chiyo-chan and her class participated in the school's athletics festival every year. Each time, she struggled to perform somewhat well due to her lack of athletic prowess. However, she was able to get some feeling of achievement from them, once being able to throw a ball in the basket in one of the events. She also was able to succeed in the scavenger hunt and disguise race as well.

Her school held two cultural festivals, each in a different year. The first time around, the class held a stuffed animal exhibit with various people taking turns waring a cat costume. Because of Chiyo-chan's size, she didn't fit well into it at all, and in fact, freaked out Yomi a little when she tried to walk in it. At the second culture festival, the class decided on a stuffed animal cafe. Chiyo-chan wore an adorable penguin suit, and some of her friends were waitresses.

During the summer vacations, she and her friends, chaperoned by a Yukari and a Minamo, went to her family's beach house. The trips included relaxing on the beach, melon breaking scary stories, and sometimes fireworks. On their last trip to the house together, they also spent an ample amount of time studying, much to Tomo's annoyance.

During their last year of high school, Chiyo-chan's class, along with a few others, went on a trip to Okinawa. There, she overate at a buffet, went scuba diving, and went to Iriomote island where they met an Iriomote kitten. A few months later, Chiyo and Sakaki were almost attacked by the cat, Kamineko, and it's gang while walking home from school when Yamamaya came and scared the cats them away. Afterwards, Chiyo took Yamamaya, nicknamed Maya, in. She decided she could look after it until she left to go to college in America.

Over the course of these three years, Chiyo-chan earned consistently high marks in her classes. She did so well, in fact, that at graduation, she is given the award for having the best academic record of her class. Then, she went with her friends to Magical Land, an amusement park.

However, during that little trip, she found herself in a rather curious place.

Personality:
Chiyo-chan is a humble, kindhearted individual despite her wealth and intellect. She doesn't like fighting, and often acts as the peace keeper among her friends. She is far more willing to help out someone in need, especially when they need some help on their homework, rather than scoff at them. Although she is wealthy and extremely intelligent, especially for her age, she does not show off or act stuck up about it. In fact, she sometimes isn't even aware of how impressed others can be these things. For example, she was surprised at how impressed her friends and teachers were of her family's beach house.

For her age, Chiyo is displays above average maturity and yearns to be regarded as such. In fact, she is more mature than some of her friends! She is very responsible and serious about her school career. She is proud of her status as a high school student, and wishes to be regarded as such instead of the “cute child.” She even took on a part-time job and paid the for a high school student movie ticket (as opposed to a child's ticket) because she thought they were things a high school student would do.

That is not to say however, that she doesn't act childish or naïve sometimes, such as getting flustered and somewhat emotional when Tomo razzed her about her favorite team being less than number one. She was also clueless about the inappropriate things that Minamo-sensei talked about when she was a little tipsy one summer evening.

Powers/Abilities:
While Chiyo-chan doesn't have any "super" powers or abilities, she does have the give of great intelligence, and is a very capable learner. For example, she went from having no idea how to use a computer to typing without looking at the keyboard in a relatively short space of time.

While it's arguable that it's an ability, Chiyo-chan is quite adorable. This cuteness allowed her go get away from being smacked upside the head very hard when she forgot her homework one day.

She also appears to be a rather good cook.
